Thanks for your comment. Yeah according to different sources I have found including the EPA website it is safe to drink water that is sanitized with bleach. It can be used for cooking also. Although if you are using it for cooking you might as well go the boiling route to sanitize the water. Hope that answers your question.

Although we always carry water with us, it has happened to me that we go on hiking trips, and end up needing to sanitize water for drinking. We usually use purification tablets, but often the water also needs to be filtered, to remove unwanted particles. 

I have never used bleach to sanitize water, as one is always told not to drink bleach or get it in your eyes. How safe is it to drink water that has been sanitized with bleach? Can it be used in cooking? Or would it have other uses? Thank you.
