I'd never heard of straws like this that can purify water. My only experience of drinking water that I wasn't 100% sure was good happened during a camping trip in the Lake District. A friend and I hiked up a mountain. We ran out of water and had to find a source. A brook was nearby and the water looked very clear. Who knew if any animal peed in it upstream. We dipped out tin cups in it and drank the water anyway. As you may have concluded, we never got ill. However, if we had the type of straws you discussed we would have used them. But that was in the 1960s so I doubt these straws existed then.

Actually, this is the first time I have seen this type of filter. Also, personal water bottles with filters like these are very valuable. We're going on a hike next week. I think those bottles are very valuable to us. I will definitely buy them. And I'm sending this post to everyone who goes on our hike. Life Straws are a great idea no matter where you are. I have put them in my survival kit and in the car, you never know when you need them. I travelled around India and would have loved to know about the Life Straws then but did now.

I did have to carry clean water when I travelled around India the life straws would have made things so much easier.

I saw this product back in 2017 when hurricane Maria hit my island but I didn’t purchase it because I was skeptical. Now that we’re back on hurricane season I might give these straws a try. Do the straws have a filter that you have to change? Also, how purified is the water after making its way throughout the filter straw?
